Over the years, he invited several family members to join the business, and in 2002, he handed the reins to his nephew Andrew Ng but remained as director. On sundry other occasions, he also contributed generously to charitable works, including a Flood Relief Fund in Chili and a War Relief Fund arising from the Franco-Annam war under the command of Viceroy Li Hung-chang.
